Because fish and other aquatic life depend upon dissolved oxygen in water, ORSANCO monitors dissolved oxygen conditions at 13 Ohio River locations. From May through October, ORSANCO receives dissolved oxygen (DO) data, transmitted from electronic monitors at 13 navigational dams operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or hydropower plants. Through this partnership, DO can be improved through changes in the operations of the dams
