Regular Part-Time Environmental Educator

The Foundation for Ohio River Education (FORE) is seeking to hire a regular part time educator to work 15-20 hours on average per week. FORE is the non-profit affiliate of ORSANCO (Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission). Educational programs at FORE focus on macroinvertebrates, fish ecology, plankton, water chemistry, and water quality monitoring for the Ohio River. Environmental Educators work in direct partnership with other educators and under the supervision of ORSANCO’s Environmental Education and Outreach Coordinator. Responsibilities include conducting environmental education programs and outreach activities, both with a team and independently.

Our educational programs provide experiences outside the traditional classroom to explore nature and the vital uses of the river. Our outreach activities involve people of all ages to promote water quality and encourage environmental stewardship. Additionally, this individual will assist in curriculum development and project management. Educators are directly involved in environmental education events and outreach activities, however administrative tasks such as marketing, scheduling, and event planning, can be split among team members according to strengths in these respective areas.

This position is entry level, previous education and biological experience is beneficial but not required.  This role involves public speaking and presenting in front of both large and small groups. The ideal candidate will have, or be working on, a degree in biology, environmental science, or education.  We offer flexible but consistent scheduling and training. A passion for outdoors and willingness to work hands-on with the public is strongly encouraged.
